It's been a whirlwind of creative energy these past couple of weeks as I've been redesigning my website and doing several photo-shoots between Boston and Nantucket. A couple of weeks ago on May 4th I got the opportunity to be the photographer for Self Help Africa's 2012 Change-Maker's Ball at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston! My always wonderful friend and roommate, Max, who is a committee member with Self Help Africa helped me to get the gig- thank you Max! I encourage you to learn more about Self Help Africa and their efforts to work with rural African communities to achieve economic independence, and how you can become involved. The event raised close $150,000 on the night, and all proceeds will go towards Self Help Africa's work with smallholder farmers in eight countries in Africa. A highlight of the night came with the keynote speech of Irish President Michael D. Higgins which can be read in the news article. This was President Higgins first official trip to Boston as President.
